Locus helps residents establish
long-term goals for their neighborhoods.
Locus blends seasoned information from planners and other city officials with local knowledge of residents through a web-based application.
This information is used within the existing community board process to establish long-term goals for the neighborhood.
Participation happens today, but it happens too late. By the time we get around to discussing changes in our neighborhood, they've become huge, contentious issues. Locus front-loads that participation, back to the point where issues have room to respond to criticism and back to the point where people feel empowered to work on them.
But they also know that a group of citizens don't have the experience or the objectivity needed to build a community on their own, no matter how good their intentions. Locus highlights the constraints planners work within to ensure the best feedback possible.
Locus analyzes resident data and is able to display it in aggregate or single out specific responses. And all of this can be displayed at the meeting, so everyone has a point of reference during the conversation – something which tells residents their voice was heard.
